What it is
Vacuum filler wrapped in a hollowed-out metal overlay over the acrylic barrel, so the ink shows through the cut-outs. Heavier and more ornate than the V126, same filling idea.

For and against
- Distinctive filigree overlay, unusual at the price
- Large vacuum-fill capacity
- Shares the V-series #6 nib units
- Metal overlay adds weight that not everyone wants
- Same seal/threads caveats as the rest of the vacuum line
Bought for the look rather than the writing; the mechanism and nib are V126-class.
What owners say
I've been trying to get that v169 for a while and every time I order it on aliexpress the order gets canceled and I get a refund. Probably happened 4-5 times at this point. I don't know why i keep trying... r/fountainpens · 2 pts · thread
I like both of them but the V169 really impressed me for the money. Much smoother nib than any Eco I’ve bought (and I’ve bought several). My only complaint is the fine nib is really a western medium. Wish I would’ve bought an extra fine. But I like the pen enough that I’ll likely send it off to get ground down to a cursive italic. r/fountainpens · 2 pts · thread
I have a couple of Asvine pens and they are both great. I especially love the Medium Nib I got on the V169, smoothest out of the box steel nib I have. r/fountainpens · 2 pts · thread
About the hard start, i own a V169, used to faul at the beginning of any word or line, i just removed the nib, “polished” it, with a leather belt, and reinstalled it a little deeper as they come default, and it writes more than perfect, never fail. r/fountainpens · 2 pts · thread
I have the v169, (F) nib. I just had to “polish” the nib. I did it with a leather belt. Also i bought a Fountain Pen Revolution #6 extra flexible nib, and it fits perfect. r/fountainpens · 1 pts · thread
