If you want the size then go for it. The M1000 nib is definitely a different experience. You might also consider a Sailor KOP in B. It is softer than a 149 nib and has some pleasant (to many) feedback. Of tpu want cheaper and still good consider a Majohn P140. As an alternative if you don’t / can’t harvest a KoP nib, the M1000 nib works quite well, AND it’s available to purchase separately. This is such a strange take. Are Montblanc 149, Pelikan m1000, etc not "good" pens? Are Graf von Faber-Castells with rare wood barrels just pieces of crap? Do we consider Ferris Wheel Press an elite pen manufacturer because they happen to use aluminium? And hey, I love ebonite too, but why is vulcanised rubber inherently > resins or durable acrylics?
